This is one of the huge risks to both the bulls and the bears. During the pandemic, the Fed was the only buyer. Foreigners were net sellers. Some people even started saying that the US government had a debt financing problem b/c the Fed was the only buyer of treasuries. But a case could also be made that it was economically stressed times and the Fed had to be the only buyer.

But now, we'll really get to see what is going to happen. The MOVE index says it is going to be very bad. As in possibly 2008 kind of bad. By the same token, the Fed can read that chart better than anyone and they may decide to step in and backpedal so that it won't get that bad.

And therein lies the rub. You can look at MOVE and say the world is coming to an end. Or you can look at it and say the Fed will come to the rescue before the world comes to an end. There is a case to be made for opinions.
