There are language tricks that can be used to confuse.

A major one is a slight shift from a precise context (like vectors) and then a statement that is more relaxed (like all vectors have a certain property when there are in fact exceptions).

I don't have any issue with the sentiment you espoused, but I have a reflexive reaction to shifts of state when I detect them, because they can often by used to imply the precise context onto the exception. It's all a part of my OCD leanings.
