"QCOM and CYMI press releases were virtually IDENTICAL....reasons for the drop in sales and results were the same...."

Candle stick,
I think your analogy doesn't really work here. You could say there is some similarity in the reasons for an expected drop in sales, but to say that "QCOM and CYMI press releases were virtually IDENTICAL" just ignores the history of what happened with Cymer. After all, Cymer got in so much trouble not because they had a press release with bad news, but because they disappeared from a scheduled investor conference presentation with no explanation, and afterwards the management was quite slow to explain what was affecting their business situation. Qualcomm, by contrast, has released a pretty full account of the things they expect to change their near-term earnings outlook, and done so apparently very promptly and before anyone had started wondering what was wrong.
