I don't know if Putin has gotten what all that he wanted, but Ukraine has already lost the war. It seems the only question for Zelensky is how to get the best negotiation position for a settlement. Unfortunately, Biden still seems willing to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian.

Zelensky is being threatened by the Azov group and other extremists. He won the presidency with a majority of over 70% - on the promise of making peace - and peacefully resolving the Donbas/Lugansk dilemma. After he took office, the radicals must have made him an offer he couldn’t refuse - and his career as a peacemaker was over.

Their radical nationalists are tough fellows. They wouldn’t allow the defenders of the Azovstal to withdraw or to surrender. Now, a similar situation is developing in Severodonetsk. They insist on people fighting to the bitter end. Zelensky, in the meantime, is continuing his world tour, demanding more money and weapons on zoom. But in matters of peace, he’s mumm.
