PHILIPS, SHELL ASSESS MILLENNIUM WOES Wednesday, February 11, 1998

Oil group Shell International and consumer electronics concern
Philips are among the Dutch companies currently pressing to identify
and solve any possible software problems caused by the millennium
changeover.
At a recent meeting of the Millennium platform - a business and government group set up to assess the risks to the Dutch economy
posed by the approaching end of the century - experts said the potential damages could reach hfl.20 bn($10 bn). This is far higher
than the previously estimated hfl.14 bn.
