Thanks, Libbyt. We had to do mom and dad stuff yesterday. Saturday night, Aj&Tj were supposed to get together with some high school friends, but they decided to go with another group of friends and do something closer to home (gas prices).

Well, one of the friends they were supposed to see at the first gathering they hadn't seen since New Years Eve.

That kid was found dead in his family's backyard yesterday morning. A note was in his room.

The person who had hosted the gathering my kids missed had this kid at his home Saturday night. When the kid's mom called and said he never came back home, the host went to that kid's home to check out what may have happened.

He found the note, called the police, and they found the kid's body in a wooded area of their property, face down. It looks like an intentional overdose of pills.

The host kid is getting married in 6-weeks, and Aj & Tj are groomsmen. The kid who died was supposed to be a groomsman as well.

As you can imagine, lots of kids and parents got gut punched by this. We used the opportunity to emphasize to our kids all of the mental health aids that are just a phone call or e-mail away, and that people should never be afraid to have themselves or encourage others reach out for help we all may need at some point in our life.
