Yes, I think you were.

This get's my vote (preview of posts), FWIW. I've now settled in
my own mind that I don't favor allowing anybody's messages to be
skipped unseen in NEXT sequence. This was the strongest I ever
would have supported (doubt that I'd have used it personally).

After some waffling I've come back to where I started. If
we don't at least see the messages from everybody, SI would
no longer be SI, IMHO.

I've appreciated the discussion, but unless I see something
new I'm going to bow out of this topic, having said my piece
(kindly hold down the applause a bit).

Regards,

Spots

Previews..impact on servers...next..subject line

I am with you on the previews. I would like to see the ability to toggle the function on and off. I would probably read my favorite threads as I do now next...next...next...next...next. and would toggle off the previews if it slowed the server response time.

I would not like to have several options on the next button or want to take the time to vote. Clicking through 100 posts can be tedious (unless you have one of those cable modems). I place my mouse on next, sit back and click away. I don't read long posts unless they are interesting as I have to move the mouse.

Dick's subject lines #reply-3387533 would work well with your idea of previews.

I would toggle on the preview for threads that I read on a less frequent basis or if I get behind. In this case I would make use of the skip ahead capability of the preview idea. Server response time would be less of a concern as I would be skipping posts.

If we can figure out a way to get the Dyer's some $ they can buy more and faster servers :)...although I do find their servers to be among the best.
