The advantage the Old Folk Portfolio has is that only $100K in annual dividends is required for retirement, and it will generate over $300K in dividend income in 2023. I have already built in a huge margin of income safety, but I sincerely believe a 50% cut in portfolio income isn't in the cards. Some of the holdings might see 50% cuts but I don't see the portfolio as a whole doing that. I think the portfolio is well insulated against not having enough income to live on in retirement.

Personally that is why I have real estate .. not as investment for profit... home and chalet.. I am VERY handy.. most repairs even quite major.. no issue... and a job that pays me to stay in shape.. I secured myself to be last on list of layoff.. I have great vacay time and benefits... planning is everything :0) My port can be cut in half .. I will still be very fine.. mentally and physically OK G-d or nature willing if port went to zero ..i would still be OK.. less for kids though LOL I have places to live.. can grow enough food to sustain me and many EASILY... in your scenario I may need ANOTHER bigger gun :0)
