Elmer, you're showing your ignorance here, there are no .25u Pentiums other than notebook chips.

BTW, it may make sense to use geographical diversity when 1)someone gives you incentives (AMD Dresden), 2)to hedge against currency fluctuations, 3)to hedge against political unrest.

From the discussion about stepper prices, it appears that the cost of the fab itself (typically $2B, right?) significantly exceeds the cost of equipment needed for full scale production. Therefore, there must be some room for price increases from equipment makers AMAT, etc. But equipment has a shorter depreciation schedule (becomes obsolete quickly), so perhaps it might cost $2B over the lifetime of a fab.
