In the meantime (i) the Coconut just got notified of her supposedly random dorm assignment that might not be as random as it seems because of computer-profiling. So yes, random might well be a second filter, and not-as-random-as-it-might-seem is the first filter. She is ecstatic and I am happy for her, as the first filter netted her what she really truly wanted, essentially an as-near-as-possible version of Hogwarts college dorm complete with Gothic architecture. Second filter that is likely quite random netted her 5 dorm mates and the girls are already in enthusiastic communication with each other and with the entire group via social media, exchanging greetings, checking each other out, and making Zoom party plan (ii) The particular dorm suite is comprised of four singles and a double, for the 6 young ladies hailing from Atlanta, Los Angeles, Cleveland, UK (boarding school, apparently of German origin), NYC and the Coconut from HK. Likely all humanities types, and perhaps one or two either athletic or dancer types by the looks of social media. The Nut got one of the singles, for she noted on her profile she is somewhat introverted. I am guessing some or all of the American girls might have filled out their questionnaires in a way that indicated wish to dorm with some girl(s) not of America, else 2 international girls out of 6 defies the odds given freshman student group profile. (iii) I observed that good one of the dorm mates is from NYC, a city the Nut knows relatively well, and one from Germany, as the Nut intends to visit my brother-in-law living in Berlin over some holiday or other. I repeatedly noted to the Coconut, study diligently, do not procrastinate, shout early if sensing trouble of any sort, talk to people, and behave well, but only by key words and stories as opposed to lectures.
