Intel Execs Sell Out, Unveil New Pentium II Design
After a few days of rumors, SEC filings today reveal top
executives at Intel are filing to sell their company stock. Frank
Gill, head of Intel's small business and networking group, is
selling 390,664 shares, (worth $30 million); Leslie Vadasz, in
charge of business development, filed to sell 250,000 shares
(worth $20.4 million); and Craig Barrett, president and COO, plans
to sell 100,000 shares (worth $7.8 million). Clearly, there's some
pretty significant stock or options plans triggering the sales. They
should have read News.com's report telling CEOs how to cash in
quietly. Meanwhile, Intel's just announced its Slot 2 processor
package, which will house upcoming Pentium II processors, and is
twice the size of the current package. And TechWeb covers the
new workstations that Intel is planning--since National
Semiconductor can legally reverse-engineer Intel's chips, the chip
giant is tricking out its Pentium II module, cramming two chips into
it, while still meeting the Slot 2 design (please, refrain from the
obvious wordplay on II, 2 and two). Finally, it may be premature to
discount Alpha--Digital breathed new life into the technology by
extending Alpha's licensing arrangement with Samsung.
