HI Paul,

I am a very recent stock holder of INTC.

Partly because I view INTC as a national treasure that has become a second place leader in technology AND NOW SADLY A VALUE PLAY!

They have indicated a desire to boost Capex in an effort to compete with Taiwan Semi. There is no doubt that the Taiwanese Government gives great support to their semi industry.

Many of our Congressmen and women have expressed the need for financial support for the US semi sector revitalization as a necessary support to reclaim our leadership, as enjoyed in the past.

This is a repeat of government assistance that successfully regained leadership when Reagan imposed sanction's on Japans chip industry.

To discuss the obstacle's I see for INTC (what I now consider a value stock) with regards to the Congress's inability to pass supportive legislation vs move their Capex to Europe is totally on subject.

The ability for Intel to receive their share of a 53 billion dollar government support program is totally on subject - including the conflict that prevents it from becoming reality.

I consider non political comments regarding investment decisions to be constructive.

That being said, when the matter that prevents the financial support that is integral to the effort to reestablishing our technological leadership and its associated financial benefits is political - it is time to call a spade an spade.

Perhaps readers of this thread will even agree and make a call to their respective representative that supports the importance of this bill being quickly passed.

I rest my case and request you reconsider labeling this post as political. It has an important view. IMO

Thank You in advance for your consideration.

Bob

Re: INTC and ALL the US manufacturing companies

I can not think of any time in our history where US manufacturing is critical. Unfortunately it has become a Political issue but for me it is best business practices for the Federal Gov to invest in our US semiconductor industries.

I liked that post because at this point US (& other Countries) are at Economic War where China. China is subsidizing many of their industries and that goes for their semiconductor industry too (read the Bloomberg article).

US has had the chance to respond through the funding of the Chip Act. It means tons of US jobs (in Ohio). It is not specific to INTC but they will benefit if the funding is approved.

The lead time is several years (almost 5 years from development to production).

Just like the EV industry, the success of some of our companies/industries is linked to the legislation our politicians may or many not do.

Refineries are in the same boat but that is due more to environmental regulations and the uncertainty if fossil fuels will be allowed to be distributed & sold in 15-25 years.

I think Political discourse is important when it depends on the survival of an industry. How can you separate the two? It's up to the people to be informed and let their representative know what is important.

How can one invest in sectors/companies w/ the uncertainty? It is all linked . . .

I wonder how many on this thread knew about the Chip Act and/or the current legislation on the Green New Deal? Guess where the next largest refinery is being built? Not in the US but Mexico. That information is posted over in BigDog thread.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you not think Political discussion is appropriate as long as it relates to a specific company and/or industry?

So maybe you are responding "in general' and that I do agree. However, many specific industries are greatly impacted by recent political actions (or non-actions). It's important to educate the investor as to what those are and possible solutions that s/d be look at.

I will leave it at that but as a value investor; more of my Buy/Sell is from political actions than financial.
