There are numerous astute professional traders/investors, just as smart, if not smarter, than the research analysts. All that's needed is to put in the time and effort that the analysts do. Most of the analysts upgrades/downgrades are after the fact, after earnings and CC. Sure, in some cases they have access to upper management on a weekly basis to ask questions. You can start looking inside yourself. You are quite capable. I understand you rely on the analysts for your stock picking while you focus on the income and monthly cash flow of the portfolio.
