The ultimately successful strategy for the Republicans would be to be principled and honest. The war must wind down. Global nuclear annihilation must NOT happen. I think the percent of Americans willing to face a nuclear war over Ukraine would be in the low single digits. So, that’s good politics as well.

I wrote this earlier today in a post addressed to you. It combines decision making on principle - as well as crucial electoral considerations. Do the right thing - which is also an election winner. But, Rep politicians who would agree are too intimidated. Afraid of the heavy propaganda artillery.

OK, let’s step back a little. Propaganda may destroy some - a limited number - of dissidents. The way around that is to consult with your colleagues. Build a block - before going public.

If an issue that would have a 95%+ support among voters is something that’s untouchable? - what kind of a democracy are we?

I would submit that political donors would prefer to support people who may attract the most support from voters.

So, what’s needed is an honest discussion of the risk of a nuclear war - which has NOT been done - and do some old fashioned political opinion polls.
