Mutual Fund Trading: The Final Chapter(?)

For those of you (well, okay, both of you) that are following this ongoing saga: After "testing" mutual fund trading yesterday, I ended up with NO mutual fund shares, much to my pleasant surprise.

I see that the mutual fund page has gone from "Mutual Funds You Can Trade" (or whatever) back to "Mutual Funds You Can Trade Soon".

Attempting yet another MF purchase (why do I do these things to myself?) returns a message that one's order was not accepted, and that trading in that fund is not available. I assume everyone is receiving these messages. Then again, it could be just me. ;)

In any event, I'm pleased to see that Datek took rapid action on this. Even covert, unannounced "stealth" action. I was hoping for some hush money, but I guess Peter would rather spend it on coding. Oh, well. Peter, if you change your mind, you know my account number. I hope the re-coding is going well. If you want somebody to abuse your system in perverse ways you never imagined, I'm right here.

Mutual Fund Trading: Anomalies, Part V - The Return

I'm back! Mr. Mutual Fund is at it again. I noted with interest that the "Mutual Funds You Can Trade Soon" had changed back to "Mutual Funds You Can Trade". After my last round of frolicsome fun with Peter's MF trading system, I couldn't resist yet another poke at it.

First - Things seem to be ~much~ better. I was able to confirm two purchases with apparent ease. We'll see what happens tonight.

Second - The only anomaly I ran into was when cancelling a purchase on the confirmation screen. I was returned to the quote screen with an appropriate message about "purchase not confirmed". However, I now have an open order with no date (it does have a time), neither a buy nor a sell indicated, quantity 0, no symbol with a status of '?-Day' and an asterisk. The asterisk tells me that I got a partial fill on a larger order and will only be charged one commission. How sweet!

Petey, you're darn close. Break out VI one more time for a little more polish and you'll be dead on. Tips, gratuities, hush money and bribes are all accepted and appreciated.

I'll report in tomorrow as to the success of my MF meddlings.
