He got it partly right = the unworthy are not fit to lead or act as drummer thinking others might march as expected by said incompetents. the West must once again make our economic, social, and political systems the envy of the world. In the US, that starts with reducing gun violence, improving environmental regulations, combating inequality and racism, and protecting women’s reproductive rights. Until we have proven ourselves worthy to lead, we cannot expect others to march to our drum. That applied to Great Britain after the decline and the British disease. But they never regained their mojo. Because, wishing isn't good enough. VVVs are harsh taskmasters, although paradoxically very easy to adopt and apply and benefit from once the necessary philosophical foundations are accepted. The costs are zero and the benefits vast. Which would make one think that everyone everywhere would adopt them always. But temptation, hedonism, and Evil of the 7 cardinal sins always beckon = come hither and attend Pleasure Island [like Pinnochio]. Stiglitz's choice of gun violence, environmental kleptocracy, "inequality" and "racism" ... oh, and "women's reproductive rights" whatever they are, is a useless and pointless and stupid list which if fully adopted in whatever way he thinks good would not benefit USA's drum beating or leadership at all. Inequality is just fine. Racism is normal, depending on definitions, as anybody can see general truths about whatnot groups. Different groups are not only different, many insist on their differences. The environment is just fine too and does not need USA drum beating. Women can look after their own gonads and affairs as far as I'm concerned. I advocate they do so more intensely and do not sell themselves short and do not expect Big Brother to be a good father. Women should choose good men [as good as they can]. Governments are terrible husbands and worse fathers. Get the government OUT of the fatherhood business. They are horribly hopelessly useless and even evil = paying people to torment infants and children, often to death [in Aotearoa-Zimbabwe]. Mqurice
