Ben was much more than simply okay.

A real genius. His diplomacy in France, his contribution to the Constitution, etc., would have been more than enough to earn him top tier rank among the illustrious, but he was also an inventor, a writer, etc.

He is easily my favorite Founder.

He could've patented the Franklin Stove and become wealthy but he refused to do so because he thought it best to make it widely available for the benefit of mankind.

Govr. Thomas was so pleas'd with the Construction of this Stove, as describ'd in it that he offer'd to give me a Patent for the sole Vending of them for a Term of Years; but I declin'd it from a Principle which has ever weigh'd with me on such Occasions, viz. That as we enjoy great Advantages from the Inventions of others, we should be glad of an Opportunity to serve others by any Invention of ours, and this we should do freely and generously.

I keep a copy of his Thirteen Virtues on my office wall as a reminder.

He was quite methodically virtuous, noting his transgressions systematically.

We need men like him now, instead of the dangerous mediocrities we must suffer.
