There may be some kind of revenge he'd like to level against his enemies? In that vein, there is no way on Earth he won't run I take it, you mean Trump, not DeSantis :) I suspect, DeSantis will not run if Trump runs. Which is OK - politics is about what is possible within a given political system - and climate. If DeSantis runs - he would at the very least split the Rep party. Even if he gets the nomination, much of the Rep base would be alienated. Richard Nixon refused to challenge JFK’s victory. Didn’t want to put the country through a political crisis. At some point, it should be less about one individual’s personality, emotions and enemies - and more, about the country. A couple of days ago spoke with an elderly retired couple from Colorado. Both are Trump voters - and both hope he doesn’t run again. Not everyone is hyper political. I suspect there may be many millions like them. The Dems may come up with a sleek, pro-business, reasonable sounding candidate - just look how they packaged Obama - and the 2024 victory may be very far from guaranteed.
