You're right -- I got scared in October and sold quite a few shares. I've now rebuilt the position (at a higher average cost, arrgh) except for about 400 shares. I wish I had it to do over.

JMHO.

As a casual observer of Twister's posts on this thread I have to say the following: I think people are being too harsh on Twister (after all his name implies his intentions that is to Twist the facts and obvious conculsions). Twister is simply expressing his opinion and sometimes in a very tasteless manner. But that is ok, everyone has a distinct style for expressing his ideas.

I personally do not believe Twister is bearish on SUNW, and in fact as I have said it before I think he is a fellow SUNW share holder who at times when the stock is not doing so good brings out all the negatives he can think of in order to get some answers for those negatives and a justification for his continuation to hold on to the stock. otherwise I can not think of any other reason for him to behave in the way he has behaved for the past 2 1/2 years (on this thread anyway). His arguments are stated in an articulate manner and shows his intelligence. Therefore I can not possibly accept that he is ignorant to accept the fact that SUNW has had a 110% return since his first participation on this thread and I am sure he has also enjoyed this return but simply does not want to display his exuberance. And yes I admit, it is strange for him to act that way!

And if my theory about him is wrong the only other reason I can think of for his behavior is that he is an ex-sun employee who either got fired or perhaps a current sun employee who has not been receiving enought stock options and/or bonuses and/or salary increases! I, however, tend to go with my first theory!

In any event, Twister, my cyber friend and fellow SUNW share holder, if you are reading this I just want to tell you that I, for one, appreciate your role as someone who brings out all the negatives about SUNW. We do need to know all sides. After all we are all here to make money. Stocks, whether it is SUNW, MSFT, IBM or whatever, are simply instruments via which we can grow our wealth and they are not meant to be our love! Thus we as investors need to look at all sides of an investment (negative and positive). As I have come to believe when doing an investment one must always look at things that can go wrong, and then look at those aspects that can go right! In case of SUNW which happens to be my largest portfolio holding I tend to think the things that can go right outway those that can go wrong. And I would like to be aware of all the things that can go wrong with SUNW at all times, otherwise I'll be just a fool holding on to something without understanding exactly what it is!

Regards,

Addi Jamshidi

Andy, I think the record shows that I felt the bear case on sunw would play out over 18 months. And I started here in the fall of 96. Since then, I think you will find that sunw has performed in line with the s&p 500 index. So I don't belive I have missed anything. With regards to dec 96, I fully expect sunw to eclipse that low, perhaps in 1999 or even late 98.
