GK Intelligent Systems Contracts With Capella Computers for Use of Multimedia Technology in Global Intelligent Network

HOUSTON, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- GK Intelligent Systems, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: GKIS - news) and Capella Computers, Ltd. (Tel Aviv, Israel) announced an agreement in which GKIS will use Capella's MMD (Multi-Media Database) technology in establishing the company's Global Intelligent Network(SM). During the initial 3-year agreement, GKIS will pay Capella an estimated $1 million for the use of its MMD technology, and the companies expect GKIS to realize at least $12 to $15 million in revenue from the network.

The agreement introduces a new era in ''internetworking,'' in which Internet users searching the World Wide Web will enjoy vastly increased access to information and assistance through the use of a new on-line service in the area of ''intelligent performance support.'' Intelligent performance support is the combined use of newly emerging software technologies such as intelligent user interfaces, dynamic hyperlinking, cognitive modeling, heterogeneous database access, and intelligent semantic agents to provide expert help and assistance to people at work and at home.

''By providing real-time, global, access to resources and expert assistance, the Global Intelligent Network will enable Lesser Developed Countries (LDCs) to compete on a technological level similar to that of Europe and the United States,'' said Dr. Joseph Ben-Dak, founder of the United Nations Global Technology Group (GTG). GTG has designated 139 countries as suitable recipients of any technology that would improve life in these countries. Early emphasis will be placed on support for the medical and financial industries, initially targeting Mexico and other areas of Latin America.

GKIS anticipates initial introduction of its new service within six months. When this service is fully deployed, Internet and proprietary network users will be able to create custom presentations using video, graphics, simulations, and data from worldwide resources. This capability points to a broad range of potential applications with immediate benefit in the business and education arenas.

To cite an example at work, a salesperson with an important client presentation will be able to dramatically improve its quality and style by importing visual, auditory and other files from relevant hyperlinked sources, assembled in a basic presentation authored by a powerful remote server. Or, an employee in a remote area will be able to construct her own mission critical training experience authored by that same powerful server and tutored by intelligent agents. And, at home or school, a child will be able to assemble a class report or project using pictures and songs from heretofore unobtainable sources at remote global locations.

''Imagine being able to have an expert available to help you, any time, any place, anywhere'' said Gary Kimmons, president and chief executive officer of GK Intelligent Systems. ''To make this kind of assistance available, we are integrating key technologies from information technology front runners such as the University of Southern California's Information Sciences Institute, AT&T, and Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation. However, the missing link has been the ability to assemble multimedia data from disparate global sources and deliver it in a format that benefits the user. GKIS' agreement with Capella brings us this capability,'' Kimmons said.

''We are extremely pleased to be able to bring our MMD multimedia technology to the Global Intelligent Network and the Lesser Developed Countries of the United Nations,'' said Ady Wiernik, president of Capella Computers, Ltd. ''And, our support for multiple languages will help people in the LDCs access information in their natural language.''

Capella Computers, Ltd. is a rapidly growing, privately held software company specializing in the development of multimedia tools and technologies. Capella has developed a unique multimedia authoring tool and development platform, MMD (Multi-Media Database), successfully selling MMD to developers and end users and employing it in various joint ventures and technology sharing agreements.

The United Nations Global Technology Group (GTG) began in 1993 under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and now operates through a small number of not-for-profit foundations. Its mission continues to be to (i) increase LDCs' productive capacity through technology transfer, (ii) enhance LDCs' livelihood systems by making available to them state of the art technologies from the Developed Countries, and (iii) create comprehensive means for technology adaptation in LDCs through enterprise support, including private sector funding.

GK Intelligent Systems, Inc. (Houston, Texas) is an enterprise committed to providing intelligent performance support, or expert assistance, both on the job and at home via the Internet and other proprietary modalities. This commitment is accomplished through the use of highly sophisticated ''agents'' (artificially intelligent facilitators) capable of representing the needs, interests and work requirements of the user.
