"It's you leftists who think getting off of fossil fuels is as easy as mandating EVs by 2035"

It doesn't mandate EVs by '35; it bans new ICE's. There will still be plenty of pre-'35 ICE's on the road, and gasoline will still be sold. Here's what it would take for the country to get rid of the ICE by '35. If you backtrack, you'll see that this isn't the first time that I've told you that it will take until at least '50.

"you are left blaming Reagan for removing solar panels from the White House"
Those were actually solar heaters. He also got rid of tax credits and research funds. About 30 years later, Obama installed PVs, and got the US back in the renewable race. . A few years after that, Carter put 4000 panels on his farm. It's not enuf to power the country, but it does power about half of Plains.

As a libertarian... who has some faith in the law of supply and demand...

imagine, if we hadn't spent trillions artificially protecting low oil prices in the middle east, protecting the Saudis, over throwing Iran's democracy in 1953 then protecting the Shah etc, Detroit might have stopped making shit cares that got 5mpg... we wouldn't have lost 50% of our auto industry when Americans realized "Made in Japan" meant "Better than Detroit Shit"...

Now imagine if we'd taken all those trillions, and subsidized college level research into material science, applied physics, solar, super conducting, batteries. Then leased any patents to US companies, given 1/3 to the researchers, 1/3 to the colleges and 1/3 back into subsidizing more research.

We would OWN energy... hell we'd own the economy of the world, like we did in 1953...

You can't fuck with supply and demand.
