T- Is this really that new? Seems I remember that last time I was in college(mid 80s), we had something similar. It may not have been this developed. Payed at campus book store, and cafiteria. Can they access transcripts, or say campus security ( info on parking tickets) yet.
At my place of semi-employment, we have data cards (I think the co. is CTR Systems--gonna' get more info.) Have had them for about 3 years now. Basically it's just used by hourly employees to track their time(no more punching the clock) and attendance. I know down the line there are plans to use them for enterance to secure areas and if the people roust management enough, perhaps to get info on 401K, insurance, wages and etc....
A sort of piolot now is for access to computer room, however, I hear it has a lot of kinks at present. More later.August.
