I have always thought that- and have said so :-) It was not always well received. But our elitist , slave owning forefathers who were too cheap to pay to remain in the British Empire, cut us off from civilized European and English society and made us the shithole we are today. Taxation withour representation? What bullshit. If that were true, women shouldn't have to pay taxes. Black folks shouldn't have to pay taxes. ANYONE who has not been properly represented (like the poor) should not have to be taxes.

This country was built on sanctimonious bullshit- and now the bullshit overwhelms us.

I'm not fond of monarchs and the last prime ministers have been too trumplike for my tastes, while overriding an ineffectual opposition. Notwithstanding his being on the right side of the Ukraine war and his support of the NHS, Boris Johnson was A Trumpian character:

School reports complained about his idleness, complacency and lateness, [53] but he was popular and well known at Eton. [51] His friends were largely from the wealthy upper-middle and upper classes, his best friends...

...joined the Old Etonian-dominated Bullingdon Club, an exclusive drinking society notorious for acts of vandalism on host premises.....

...consistently late delivering his copy, forcing many staff to stay late to accommodate him; some related that if they published without his work included, he would get angry and shout at them with expletives.....

...labelling Johnson "ineffably duplicitous" for breaking his promise not to become an MP....

...Johnson had been having an affair with Spectator columnist Petronella Wyatt, resulting in two terminated pregnancies...

--All from Wikipedia -plenty more dirt on him I'm too lazy to get.

All this while screwing his country with Brexit and continuing the Tory tradition of laundering Russian and other countries' blood money.

Don't think I'd want to be subject to that.

A perfect take-down of the Tory mindset:
