You talk about a level playing field but the rich won't have to do community service, as they will just pay cash.

<some have an easier path of privilege. "Who's your Daddy?" Who's your Daddy's Daddy?

Service, whether military or public service can provide a level playing field after school, for at least a little while.

I still believe dynamism and competitiveness of our nation is compromised over time without increased meritocracy. Full stop.
