I don't look at individuals, I look at the history of nations and societies and the evolution of civilization.

As I keep saying look around the world right now. The highly educated societies, in the main, are usually democracies, prosperous and function under the rule of law.

In the uneducated societies in humanities like Central and South America, Africa and middle east, are basket cases.

The correlations should be obvious.

All this exposure / talent doesn't necessarily create a "good" people despite everything you suggest would do so. William F. Buckley and Gore Vidal come to mind. Both knew a lot but couldn't stop being an asshole.

What being educated is, changes over time.

My grandmother was a USC grad who could do bird calls, recite poetry, play the piano, and correct her young grandchildren's letters in red pen. Today that sort of education would be eccentric.

Today I'm surprised and somewhat concerned how little familiarity millennial graduates have with human history. What was a great depression?
