My guess is that you need memory for your PDA because you turn your PDA off sometimes without going straight to the PC. FTR, I use a palmpilot for scheduling and don't even use it for addresses so I don't even bother transfering data to my PC.

I can transfer 20MB of data from my desktop to a flash card and insert it in my palmtop for use - elapsed time about 10s. To do this by IR would take at least 15 minutes. Also flash memory is removable - I can carry my palmtop (8MB of internal memory) and three flash cards (20MB and 2 @ 15MB). By swapping out the cards I can instantly change to a new set of applications. If I only had an IR link I would need 48MB of internal memory in the palmtop and an extremely long time to transfer everything to it. Gary
