White, old, conservative, conventional, collaborative and someone perceived to be "one of the guys", who wouldn't scare Republicans and rock too many boats. Also - name recognition and familiarity with the job. Few could say he wasn't qualified so he had a chance with moderates. Things that would distinguish Biden would include decriminalizing and rescheduling pot, treating addicts, and other progressive moves but he spent a lifetime obsessed with locking people up for drug crimes. The hypocrisy of his son's drug use and relatively easy-going military discharge suggests nepotism and special treatment due to his dad's name on all the paperwork, but it was standard in the navy to threaten dishonorable but with pliant suspects, offer administrative discharges. I don't see any epiphanies that on the horizon. What will he be known for? Following Trump and being the target of irrational and lawful attempts at undermining his legitimacy by Republicans who ignored the worst possible criminal who had been put in the WH with a loss of popular vote and machinations and manipulations by small states and political weirdos and enablers to usher him in despite the loss, in fact - a nearly bloodless coup d'etat. Failing that coup attempt he suffered continuous harping by the former President and his apologists, repeated by Fox and New Max, despite failing repeatedly in courts Republican and Trump-appointed judges who just were not willing to cross the Rubicon with him. So Biden's presidency will be only known IMO in this context and not for the remarkable legislation passed on his watch - only the failures of his predecessor and the egregious behavior of that predecessor's SCOTUS.
