No, can't say that I see the 'head and shoulders' you are referring to....I see the stock locked in a tight range 56-64 last few weeks and the struggle between longs and shorts has gone both ways for no more than a few days at a stretch......I don't think this rally will hold much more than that either, but stranger things have happened.....still short.....;^)

Interesting Day

I shorted some more today for the following reasons

1. As a value oriented investor, AMZN is wildly priced by any measure. Since this has been discussed at great length on this thread I will not go down the litny again.

2. Last earnings report showed a nice run up in Sales over the Christmas Holiday. I do not think that similar Qtr-Qtr sales growth is possible and that we should start to see a tappering off in Sales this next quarter.

3. Asian problem will hurt (even if only a little) overseas sales.

4. Competitors B&N as well as Borders are now in the market. B&N is up and running and experiencing dramatic growth in Internet Sales. Will be most interested to see who can boast the best qtr-qtr growth rate in internet sales. Net effect will be further moderation of sales growth for AMZN.

5. Candle keeps focusing on the locked up shares that will increase the float. Although he was wrong on timing, his argument is sound. At some point, insiders will unwind. I am starting to think it is soon.

Thoughts?

Two scenario:
1) If AMZN can break the down-trend line (from late Oct to
late Jan) and close above 66, I think the winner will win big
this time. The triangle of past four months is a pretty significant
one. Does it project to 80s? Hate to be so optimistic so early.
2) If it closes below 52-53, shorts are going to laugh all the
way to the bank.

my two cents.
