If they care what the NYT thinks they are probably also personal friends with the worst democrats. Democrats are constantly grooming congressional Republicans.

"You need to be really wary of candidates who care what the New York Times thinks." I kinda feel that way about anyone, not just candidates. Not "wary" exactly, but if someone tries to refer me to something in WaPo, NYT, CNN, MSNBC, etc., it's as if they are referring me to Saturday morning cartoons. I just tune out.
