Miraje, funny you should mention windmills, because my problem with them isn't their disposal, but rather their maintenance.

When you rely on thousands of windmills to replace the power generation that one (or a few) fossil fuel plants could handle, some of them are going to break down prematurely. Multiply the failure rate over scale, and the maintenance costs will skyrocket.

One reason why I'm a fan of giant offshore wind turbines is because those can reduce the number of windmills to maintain. Only problem is that trying to maintain them is very challenging. They're super-huge and over water. Crew members are put at significant risk to their lives, and keeping them safe gets expensive.

In fact, I would consider that job more dangerous than being an offshore oil rig worker, or being an Alaskan crab fisherman.
