I would have to agree in substance with you about the current CPU speed as a factor in public demand. My own experience is that, once all the models are fast enough, price then becomes the overriding factor in making a choice. That ignores personal preference, which is always at the top of the decision ladder.

But, even so, speed is a desirable option. And for many, regardless of the expected use of the computer, speed is a measure of programmed obsolescence. The new G3's do not carry an exorbitant price premium for their speed improvement, and therefore will be instrumental in elevating the number of units sold by Apple.

Apple is about to flower into a multi-platform company with the introduction of Rhapsody. Already, there are many Apple produced software products for Wintels. ClarisWorks, FileMaker Pro, Quicktime, just to name a few.

Please excuse my attempt at being a smart aleck. You seemed to be fishing for a rebuttal, so rather than bite, I decided to throw another line.
