I just hope that the name of Mike Murphy or ctsl has nothing to do with this upswing.

if you're too fast you can't last.
if you're too slow, you can't go.

sudden changes seem to be mounted
on wobbly legs, don't they. the pace
has been quickened, however, and the
breadth looks formidable.

i will be reassured with some basing as well, however.

I agree that IDT would be best served by going it alone for the time being. IBM is overrated when it comes to making chips. Cyrix is a good example. During the past year, IBM was the main fab partner for Cyrix. When the 686MX was announced, the anticipation was > 200 MHz performance, since IBM is a world class foundry with processes similar to Intel. The end product never met the expectations, and the highest clock yield was something in the 180 MHz speed range. Thus the continued PR rating on Cyrix chips.

This may have been a result of the Cyrix design, or IBM's commitment to the effort. Cyrix has since been bought by NSM, who reportedly is having similar problems getting started.

In any case, I would hope that IDT relies on their own fabs to make the C6. Capacity may be an issue, but in the end it is better for the company.

An interesting rumor is floating in the Yahoo stock boards. A company name "T", which I presume is Toshiba, may be visiting IDT soon. This makes sense since notebook computers are where the C6 belongs. Any announcement of a deal should move IDT out of its trading range.
