Cell Robotics and SKK to Introduce Lasette in Japan

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--(BW HealthWire)--Feb. 9, 1998--Cell Robotics International, Inc. (OTC: CRII - news) announced it has signed a Letter of Intent to distribute the Lasette(TM) laser finger perforator with SKK (Sanwa Kagaku Kenkyusho Co., Ltd.) of Nagoya, Japan.

SKK is a leading supplier of diabetic products in Japan with about $250 million in annual sales and a subsidiary of a multi-billion-dollar distribution and manufacturing company, the Suzuken Group, the largest pharmaceutical distribution company in Japan. As a part of this agreement, SKK has committed to purchase a minimum of 500 Lasettes in the first year.

The Lasette is a small, hand-held, battery-operated laser device that produces a small hole in the finger with a single pulse of laser light. The Lasette is nearly painless, and is the only laser product cleared by the US FDA to draw blood for glucose and hematocrit testing in diabetic patients.

SKK will submit the Lasette to the Japanese Ministry of Health and, after approval, begin promotion and sales activities. SKK currently controls 50% of the Japanese market for Blood Glucose measuring strips and is a dominate supplier of other medical products used by hospital and clinics.

''Japan represents over 15% of the world market for blood-sampling products so it is a very important market for us. We are proud to have SKK represent us and feel they are the best partner to achieve rapid sales in Japan,'' stated Travis Lee, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, of Cell Robotics.

Cell Robotics International, Inc. designs, manufactures, and sells laser research and medical products, including: a Cell Robotics Workstation for research, including LaserTweezers and LaserScissors; an In-Vitro Fertilization Workstation; the Lasette, a laser finger perforator for blood sampling for glucose monitoring; and an Erbium:YAG dermatology laser.

The Lasette was jointly developed with Big Sky Laser Technologies, Inc. (BSLT), Bozeman, Montana. BSLT develops laser products and is an OEM manufacturer of lasers. They will manufacture the Lasette. Further information is available on the Cell Robotics Web Site at: cellrobotics.com.

CRII's President and CEO, Dr. Ronald K. Lohrding, will be speaking at the Red Chip Review's San Francisco Investor Conference, February 12, 1998, at 3:00 PM at the San Francisco airport Clarion Hotel.
