I don't think Russia gives a shit about Europe. Why would they want it, it's a mess. Why would you project that unlikely future to prop up a current false dichotomy? "Let Ukraine go" is an interesting way to think about it, emotional, slippery hands and a long way down, smashed on the rocks below, terror and regret. I wonder.
