All very true. A medical expert once studied the books and said Bond wouldn't live long regardless drinking as much as he was reputed to.

The latest Bond, Daniel Craig, played the character with an awareness that he was a deeply messed up human being too maladjusted to do anything else except serve his masters in the spy service. It was fitting that Craig was on deck when Bond was wiped out. Don't ever watch the Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan editions unless you feel like laughing. Sean Connery was......Sean Connery.

I really wanted to see Idris Elba get the role as rumored a few years back, but that was shot down in a hurry. They will probably go with someone younger to jump back in the timeline and carry on the episodes. I watch mostly because "Diamonds Are Forever" was the first real grownup movie my father ever took us to as kids.

*a misogynist? Pussy Galore reconnects her heterosexuality.. is that cruel?
*an "unpleasant psychopathic serial killer".. offing only the bad guys? what's so cruel about that (maybe a
few people think Vlad Putin is cute).

my 1st take was "Goldfinger", what '64.. the height of the so- called "Cold War".. the West vs Russia.
I don't think it warrants psychiatry.. James Bond was 'movie appropriate' at that moment, besides
it's fiction, it's action, it's good guys vs bad guys, it's for imaginations running wild, it's entertainment.. it's fun!

I guess you can blame JFK since he was an avid reader of Ian Fleming.
