TG, AMAT's outlook seems to be more positive than most people expected. In the very near term, orders did not go down that much. Book to Bill is slightly under 1. Looking out a little further, the composition of their backlog is very interesting. Especially, these numbers:

Geographically, North America new orders for the first fiscal quarter of 1998 were 31 percent of the Company's total new orders, Europe 19 percent, Japan 13 percent, Korea 6 percent, Taiwan 29 percent and Asia-Pacific 2 percent.

The Taiwanese semi-equipment market is 10% larger than Japan and Korea combined to AMAT. I knew that Taiwan would pick up some of the slack, but this number is impressive. Taiwan backlog almost as large as North America!

Concerning AMAT...

cbs.marketwatch.com

This doesn't mean it will trade down as we all know what can happen.

This will eventually correct itself and all the tech stocks will live happily ever after :-)

I'll continue to load up on may. If AMAT goes higher tomorrow I'll hold. I didn't put much on the table. If if goes significantly lower in the next few days or weeks.. I'll cover and go long.

As usual... I could be wrong and usually am. :-)
