Xy, a Pentium 266 in 0.25 um technology would require somewhat of a redesign of the Deschutes core since the I/O signals for Socket 7 differ from the core of a Slot 1 CPU module.

Although many of the MMX socket 7 chips would run at 266 MHz or higher, this is only achievable with 75 MHz and 83 MHz busses because the maximum multiplier on the Pentium MMX is 3.5. Intel has steadfastly refused to support 75 MHz and 83 MHz busses. And the MMX will not run with a 100 MHz bus.
