I wouldn't be so sure about the better technology winning. I think Apple is a better overall computer than a Windows machine, but the aggressiveness and better management of Microsoft won out. But in this case you may be correct.

For MSFT I see a real problem. They got to where they are now by mean-dog aggresiveness and pulling off some very sharp business deals. They have used their size to basically threaten any computer manufacturer into obedience.

They don't have this with servers as the market is already there, so they will have to do it on product support,price, and superior technology. What I see is a long drawn out battle between MSFT and its minions, and SUN and its minions. Eventually I imagine MSFT will try to use its tried and true tactics of basic extortion to get what it wants, and will run afoul of the DOJ.

Just one scenario.
