Just been reviewing what it's like to get into a war with China. This is a Chinese centric narrative.

Even so, this was a time when China was playing out of a tough corner, and the facts are plain enough.

Oddly enough, I was not able to download the link by normal channels. But a change of browser and a VPN through Singapore enabled things. I download a lot of stuff as I find important stuff goes missing ,,, especially on utube. There was a recent Covid broadcast by Ivor Cummings that just disappeared, I thought I downloaded it, but the request must of gotten pushed back and I failed to notice. Really annoying. The censorship on important Covid indicates very strongly indeed that there is a cover up and criminality going on.

So much for free speech and stuff. Sure China is different, but I have a cynical view of my own authorities that say one thing but do another.

Yes I question the narrative, always, if I am able to do so. When it comes to war an important consideration is the intent to win it. If it's not there, no point in getting involved. As you know I have a brother in Ukraine. He might not look at the Russian view, but it's the first thing I do. Just to understand the mentality. I watched this.

UN Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy Interview From The Russian Federation (rumble.com)

Yeah, I think questions need to be asked, and answers sought. Even a cursory evaluation of the problem shows the majority of the Russian population are behind the actions of the Russian military, and the issues are not just "Putin". The problem goes back a while.

I know the military might of the West is indeed formidable, and the team dedicated professionals, but how would the civilian population deal with a war?

That is Mao's point made on a number of occasions. It concerns the will of a nation.

Civilian life has to get really, really, really bad before war is a preference.

I find I have little stomach for it. Mark me down as zhilaohu as things stand.

I have one of Nikita Khrushchev books. He reminded Mao that the American "paper tiger" had nuclear teeth during the split between China and Russia. The considerations are just too horrific.

People get conned into war though. Something to be avoided if at all possible.

Fortunately, these days, China has a vast number of options that can be played that hopefully negates any need for military conflict.
