It's about re-possessing stolen government property, some of which might be important for national security.
With all of the dumbass things Trump did, one would expect that federal, state, or even local prosecutors already have more than enough to indict the guy.

Even Martha Stewart served jail time for a lesser crime. Even today, she gets roasted for that.
