ANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Celeritek, Inc. (Nasdaq: CLTK - news) announced today two new, low cost, ''true'' 3.0-Volt power amplifiers to support dual band handset requirements. Unlike other 2 ''3V'' power amplifiers operating at 3.6V, these ''true'' 3.0V products meet the linearity demands of CDMA and TDMA systems over the entire discharge cycle of a lithium ion battery, allowing users to have longer talk time. The personal wireless communications market is demanding smaller, lighter handsets that can utilize the less expensive airtime charges and improved features offered by 1700-1900MHz PCS/DCS systems, yet maintain coverage within the 800-950MHz cellular locales where PCS/DCS is not available. This drives demand for ''true'' 3.0V dual band solutions. The CMM1530 for PCS and CMM0530 for Cellular offer superior performance from 3.0V supplies. Celeritek's 3.6-Volt Triniti DX CMM1330 and CMM0330 products were introduced over a year ago and the company is pleased to offer these new next generation ''true'' 3.0V RFIC's. Celeritek was first to market with 3.6V product then and has again led the market with ''true'' 3.0V performance. These new products provide the necessary margins needed by handset manufacturers for ''true'' 3.0V and sub 3.0V operation in volume. The CMM0530 delivers 28.5dBm of CDMA output power with 27dB of gain cross the 824-928MHz band with 40% digital efficiency and exceeding 60% analog efficiency while meeting both TDMA and CDMA spectral mask requirements for IS-136 and J-STD-18. We believe the digital performance is the best currently available and the CMM0530 delivers the highest AMPS efficiency in the industry at 3.0V. Similarly, the CMM1530 delivers 28.5dBm of CDMA output power with 30dB of gain across the 1850-1910MHz band with 35% digital efficiency, meeting both IS-136 and IS-95 spectral mask requirements. Both these devices operate off a ''true'' 3.0-volt supply, delivering designers longer talk time and more efficient operation. The CMM0530 and CMM1530 are both fabricated using PHEMT technology in Celeritek's GaAs foundry. Manufactured for high volume, these parts are packaged in a unique 8-Pin Plastic Package offering the best thermal characteristics in the industry with an associated smaller footprint. Celeritek is providing parts in high volume and adding capacity to meet the growing demand for PCS and Cellular handsets. The CMM0530 is priced at $4.95 and CMM1530 is priced at $5.50 in quantities of 50K.
