I was dealing with rust, which put me in the frame off restoration mode. Doing a driver restoration is much less expensive, and you can enjoy your car on the road. I'm not a big go to show guy, but will do some initially.

One thing about a frame off, is you buy new everything. If you think you can reuse the good pieces, they show so m uch age and wear, there really is no end to it.

If Z's have appreciated BIG, a frame off is justified.

Watch the resale values at Bringatrailer.com, and Mecum Auction.

Still memories and old cars are a reason to spend too much, but just know it's a pricey thing to do.

The level of classic your car is, really determines the expense you can justify, unless it is just what you personally want to do.

In my case, since I had it for 52 years I wanted to do it, but the value had gone up which helped make it an easier decision.

Since I had also bought a 57 Corvette 30 some years ago (it came with 3 1957 283 blocks and an incorrect Fuel Injection system (for the high horse power fuelie) I decided to use up some excess parts.
