Moderated Thread

I don't see it as replacing the SI thread concept. I don't think any existing thread should be converted to a moderated thread.

How is it moderated? I don't know. My first thought was that it would be an individual, not a group. I don't see it being very popular at first. I would think that the concept would have to evolve. My guess is that it would die a slow death, probably very boring threads. Many threads also die quickly. Natural selection works well at SI.

It might be an opportunity for a respected individual to provide commentary.

I recall a thread where in the header it indicated that the thread was for specific individuals to post only and asked that others not post, I think it was Canadian oil and gas interests. I found it boring and took the bookmark off.

On the otherhand, I would like to see a large (very large) SI membership. If it is possible to provide some alternative types of threads that may provide a service for some smaller groups of posters it may be worth a try.

Regards
