It might have been a half gallon. Probably read it in Runners World back in the day.

On heart size last year I broke a couple of ribs (fell while running not picking my feet up high enough) the radiologist made some comment on my heart being on the larger size.

I've been running since 14 with 4 years off (when I also smoked) and maybe 3 years total after that due to injuries, illness or work until this year (I did keep a running diary back in the early 80's but only for a few years).

So just on my experience I'd guess most distance runners have enlarged hearts (or at least if they do hill work outs or interval training).

From a running standpoint - I've only run around 30 miles this year (day before Christmas last year I did a 12 miler and had to stop (foot, then knee) not Covid related.
