that's a good article, here's some additional info:

"...Ticks vary in size and some can be nearly impossible to spot with the naked eye. So rather than look for
ticks, look for tick habitat and then apply proper precautions against coming into contact with them. Ticks
occur mostly in tall grass and wooded areas. In tall grass ticks are well situated to crawl on to passing
animals and people as their legs brush against the grass. So when you are in this type of environment, be
prepared to take a few precautions against ticks.

Ticks do not jump out of trees onto people passing below. They tend to remain low even on tall grass because
they avoid sunlight and the drier conditions at the top of the grass. If a tick has transferred to your body, or
your pets’, it may take several hours before it attaches to its host. This gives you a window of time to inspect
and remove a tick before it begins to bite..."

Get her a script for doxycycline to take to farm and keep on hand @ her school.

Ticks are everywhere . Do not sit on the grass without a blanket. Do not touch any conifers (pine trees, etc)

A pine is any conifer tree or shrub in the genus Pinus

Central Park is owned by ticks.

Have her and room mates check each other as you cannot feel a tick bite or ticks crawling on you.

Wear white they are easier to spot.

What is the best antibiotic to use for tick bite?

In areas that are highly endemic for Lyme disease, a single prophylactic dose of doxycycline (200 mg for adults or 4.4 mg/kg for children of any age weighing less than 45 kg) may be used to reduce the risk of acquiring Lyme disease after a high-risk tick bite.
