Brumar,
I think being risk averse means avoiding direct combat particularly with a nuclear power. Its the wiser course.
We can easily avoid direct combat with a nuclear power by just throwing Ukraine under the bus, just like we got the F out of A*ghanistan.

Brandon's strategy, namely maintaining a stalemate situation in Ukraine, only works IF you think PooTin's demise is inevitable. Then it's only a matter of time.

But PooTin's demise is FAR from inevitable. The asshole already sacrificed 80,000 of his soldiers without breaking a sweat. What makes you think he won't sacrifice another 200,000 of them just to save face?

The longer he can keep this up, the more people will start wondering whether to just call for an armistice and accept RuZZia's current territorial gains. And that's the sham sort of "peace" that Obama and NATO accepted back in 2014 when Crimea became RuZZia's new vacation zone.

There can be no peace without victory.
