I think if you look at the Bay turnaroud it went as follows:

- Enter new CEO - David House
- Purchase a few companies with hot technologies
- Found niche in Fast Ethernet Workgroup switching market (BayStack 350, etc.)
- Delivery of Accelar (from Rapids)
- etc.

Now Bay is looking for an ATM switch for the carrier class.

With respect to CS, they are doing all of the above (new CEO, DEC purchase, YAGO, new ATM switch, WAN interface cards for 6000, WAN interface cards (OC-48) for the YAGO box, and 60 mpps in 1999 for the YAGO products). CS does enterprise LAN switching very well. However, CS is looking to enter the ISP/carrier LAN switching, LAN to WAN, WAN to WAN markets in ernst.

I think CS will beat BAY. BAY still does not have the trust of customers.
