Do you think Putin is sane? No, I don’t. Same goes for the other de facto or aspiring autocrats. They can be labeled in many ways but insane is not one of them. “Opportunistic megalomaniac” is my favourite description. If anyone should be labeled “insane”, it’s their run of the mill supporters. “Run of the mill” is the operative term as their inner circle consist of nearly equally opportunistic individuals not capable of making it on their own.
