I consider myself to have grown up a pretty much idyllic life, even though my parents divorced when I was 4-ish yrs old. Maybe it would have been more traumatic if it would have happened when I was an older kid. Or maybe not.

Being born in 1961 I have no memories of the Cuban missile crisis. My 1st memory is being taken to kindergarten at the age of 3. It was very traumatic being left with strangers, not being able to cling to parents. But I soon got over it.

My first memory of a political event is when JFK was assassinated. Not knowing what it meant at age 3 but knowing from reactions of older people.
