Interestingly, some of the biggest advocated for peace, are the Hibakusha (the explosion affected persons)- who were in the explosions or in utero at the time. Unlike the republicans, they understand that just because they went through something awful that doesn't mean everyone should. I had an amazing tour in Hiroshima with a Hibakusa guide who has spent his life working at the peace park for peace.

ground zero or near to it was a large military compound in Hiroshima.


Which makes me wonder why it wasn't firebombed sooner. I thought it was one of the last cities of consequence to see a B-29. You might find these interesting.
